A Warehouse manager is responsible for overseeing warehousing activities and

managing smallholder farmers according to the organization’s policies. The

responsibilities of a warehouse manager include but are not limited to supervising,

receiving, warehousing, distribution operation, maintaining documentation, keeping

accurate records of warehouse activities, and maintaining awareness, outreach, and

knowledge of the condition of all stocks. Also, provides excellent communication and

strong analytical skills for proper decision-making. Ultimately, a high-quality

Warehouse manager should have experience in inventory, warehousing, data

analytics, strong leadership, and organizational skills.


Responsibilities

A Warehouse manager is responsible for overseeing warehousing activities and

managing smallholder farmers according to the organization’s policies. The

responsibilities of a warehouse manager include but are not limited to supervising,

receiving, warehousing, distribution operation, maintaining documentation, keeping

accurate records of warehouse activities, and maintaining awareness, outreach, and

knowledge of the condition of all stocks. Also, provides excellent communication and

strong analytical skills for proper decision-making. Ultimately, a high-quality

Warehouse manager should have experience in inventory, warehousing, data

analytics, strong leadership, and organizational skills.


Controls and Manage Inventory Levels

▪ Maintains inventory by conducting bi-monthly physical counts; reconciling

variances; inputting data in the relevant applications and platforms.

▪ Responsible for the daily entry of stock on workbench.

▪ Plan, coordinate and monitor the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.

▪ Supervise and control inflow and dispatch operations to ensure accuracy with

minimum handling and stock damage.

▪ Monitor and maintain stock accuracy by ensuring the physical stock is in line with

the warehouse management system and ensuring all stock movements are

recorded to ensure accuracy.

Farmer Outreach


▪ Responsible for outreach to farmers in their locations by ensuring the registration

of all farmers with AFEX.

▪ Visiting Cooperatives and attending their meetings


▪ Schedule field visitation days with team members (Field Extension Officers) to

have first–hand experience of the fieldwork.

▪ Follow up on Farmer’s loan repayment.


▪ Responsible for the quality and quantity of stock in the warehouse


▪ Responsible for accepting quality grains into the warehouse and maintaining the

quality of the grains in the warehouse.

▪ Ensure the safety and preservation of stocks, judicious use of equipment,

fumigants, and other property of the organization.

Market Intelligence and Price Update


▪ Responsible for reporting the market price of all commodities traded in their local

communities.

Trader Volume Aggregation

▪ Responsible for customer engagement across aggregation channels


▪ Responsible for aggregating volumes from farmers and small traders around the

communities allocated to the WH.

Manages clients’ requests and resolves issues promptly

▪ Liaise with clients on new information as and when required in a timely way.

▪ Plan field visits to meet with clients and solve issues.

Supervise Warehouse Employees and oversee daily operations

▪ Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring

security procedures and protocols.

▪ Supervise the staff to maintain proper discipline and to ensure that there is

complete cohesion and harmony among the staff as well as to inculcate team

spirit, cooperation, and a sense of participation amongst the staff working at the

warehouse.
